getting started

Here we go.

The tent trailer is out of the garage for the first time in maybe five years. It needs some repairs—corroded battery cable, corroded lights connector, some miscellaneous TLC—but the interior is clean and everything seems to be working. We have a service appointment at Apache, the same place where we bought it, on the 23rd.

Yesterday, we introduced Rigby the cat to the trailer. She started out a little freaked out, but quickly switched over to curiosity, and today, after several visits, she curled up on the big bunk for a little rest with Frank and me.

The other thing we did to try to prepare her for her new life was to take a little drive in the van. Emma and another niece, Maddy, had a sleepover with Chloe last night, and we took Rigby with us when we ran them home. To this point in her young feline life, Rigby's experience of the car has been trips to the vet. We need to wipe out that association, and our hope is that some short trips that end simply back at the house will calm her. She doesn't do badly in the car—no yowling—but she is not happy there. We hope to change that.
